SC POF fiber connectors is mostly used in router switches and transmission equipment side optical interfaces. SC connectors are directly plugged in and out, and are easy to use. For 100Base-FX, the connector is mostly SC type, and the core of the SC connector is inside the connector.

SC Type POF Fiber Connector for industrial use

1. Structure and features

(1)Appearance design:

Square housing (plastic or metal), push-pull locking mechanism, plug and unplug without rotation.

Common simplex (single channel) and duplex (dual channel, used for Tx/Rx separation) types.

(2)Core components:

Ceramic/metal ferrule, customizable aperture, high-precision alignment of optical fiber, ensuring low insertion loss (typical value <0.3dB).

(3)Advantages:

High stability: plug and unplug times can reach more than 1,000 times, suitable for frequent operation scenarios.

Low loss: single-mode return loss >50dB, multi-mode >35dB, suitable for long-distance transmission.

Telecommunication network: used for FTTH (fiber to the home), metropolitan area network backbone connection.

Data center: early 10G/40G network, now gradually replaced by LC, but still exists in traditional equipment.

4. Selection and use precautions

Mode selection:

Single mode (SM): yellow shell, used for long distance (up to 80km or more).

Multimode (MM): orange (OM1/OM2) or aqua (OM3/OM4), short distance (≤550m).

Anti-bending option:

Select SC connectors with "Bend Insensitive" design to reduce bending loss (such as G.657 fiber).
